Salal Drainfield

The Salal Drainfield provides offsite monitored wastewater disposal through a protected and maintained leechfield. It is regulated as a (LOSS) system by the state department of health.

After your water goes down the drain, it flows into a two chambered septic tank. In the first tank, dense solids settle to the bottom and floating material rises to the top where bacteria digest the waste. In the second chamber, the waste water is further digested in an anaerobic process. That now processed water gets periodically pumped into the distribution lines at high pressure. Those pipe lines connect to the community drain field. At the drainfield, your water is distributed into a series of perforated pipes underground that percolates and filters the water through a sandy substrate. That water eventually makes its way through the earth into the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
